Services and resources

The Division of Student Affairs provides programs and services that reflect the diversity of Northwestern students. You may receive assistance in establishing and fulfilling personal, academic, social and career goals and learn how to deal with issues that may arise in pursuit of these goals. The following are among the offices and agencies within the division.

African American Student Affairs

African American Student Affairs (AASA) is a place for many Northwestern students to develop friendships, work and study, or simply unwind. Located in a large Victorian edifice popularly known as the Black House, AASA provides advice, support, and referral on personal, academic, and career issues in addition to sponsoring receptions, lectures, and other programs. Northwestern's flourishing African American student alliance, For Members Only, is also based at the Black House.

Asian/Asian American Student Services

Asian/Asian American Student Services provide advising, advocacy, services, programs, and resources for Asian and Asian American students and student organizations at Northwestern.

Hispanic/Latino Student Services

Hispanic/Latino Student Services serves as an advocate for Hispanic/Latino students at Northwestern University and provides individual and student group advising as well as a variety of programs ranging from cultural to career development.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Support Network

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) Support Network offers resources and emotional, psychological and social support to meet the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students at Northwestern.

University Career Services

University Career Services provides assistance for students who are unsure of their major or future career directions or simply need help in learning about time management, study skills, and dealing with academic pressure.

Northwestern University Summer Employment Program

The Northwestern University Summer Employment Program (NUSEP) aids students seeking part-time employment off campus while they are in school or summer job or internship opportunities.

Placement Center

The Placement Center helps graduating students seeking full-time employment to plan their careers. Counselors help students explore career options, create resumes, develop interviewing skills, conduct an effective job search, and identify employment opportunities.

Counseling and Psychological Services

Counseling and Psychological Services provides confidential professional counseling when your academic or personal life seems overwhelming and addresses common concerns for college students away from home for the first time.

Health Service

The Health Service provides diagnostic and clinical services, including general medicine, women's health, an infirmary, health education, access to specialty consultations, allergy shots and travel immunizations, X rays, and laboratory tests. Its pharmacy dispenses medications at a reasonable cost to students.

Services for Students with Disabilities

Services for Students with Disabilities ensures that no qualified student with a disability is denied the benefits of, excluded from participation in, or otherwise subjected to discrimination in any University program or activity. Volunteer Opportunities in the Community

Northwestern University recognizes the value of community service among its student body and facilitates numerous volunteer opportunities in the community, whether individually or on a group basis.
